After Virat Kohli dropped Steve Smith’s catch on Day 1, it was his turn to make mistakes. Smith dropped Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja on Day 2 of the first Test against India in Nagpur.
Former Australia player Matthew Hayden slammed Smith, saying he should have made a better effort.
Sunil Gavaskar also opined on the matter. “He was not expecting the catch to come there. His back was not bent and the catch came towards the knee. It was a tiring day for the Aussies and your concentration is tested in the last few overs of the day,” he said.
Mark Waugh was unhappy with Smith’s effort. “He was not ready for the catch. Your legs have to be closer to be able to move quickly. You should read the flow of the game and pretend as if you are batting while standing in the slips.”
