MS Dhoni didn’t take a DRS against Ryan Rickelton despite the bowler hitting the batter’s pads in front of the stumps in the MI vs CSK match in the Indian Premier League 2025. Khaleel Ahmed wrapped the batter on the pads, but Dhoni didn’t use a review, thinking that the ball was going down leg. However, replays proved the veteran wrong, as the ball was hitting the leg stump.
Former India player Aakash Chopra took a dig at the Chennai captain. “Dhoni review system failed today. It was hitting the leg stump, but he didn’t opt for DRS,” Aakash Chopra said.
Ambati Rayudu was miffed with the missed chance. “When your season is not going right, you end up making mistakes,” Ambati Rayudu said.
However, Shikhar Dhawan refused to blame the legendary skipper. “Khaleel Ahmed also had a good view when the ball hit the pads. The bowler is equally responsible,” he said.
After a season-ending injury to regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhoni returned as a captain midway through the season. Although the losing streak of the five-time champions ended under his leadership, Chennai are still in danger of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Chenani’s batting, bowling, and fielding have failed in the ongoing edition, with no player giving consistent performances.
