Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has broken his silence on the retirement of MS Dhoni after the match against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Dhoni’s parents came to see the contest, making their presence felt for the first time in the history of the tournament. Along with them, Dhoni’s wife Sakshi and their daughter Ziva were also spotted.

The outcome was not what fans expected from one of the greatest finishers, as he amassed just 30 runs off 26 balls, laced with 1 four and 1 six. He came out to bat in the 11th over of the run chase but couldn’t take his franchise to a win, with DC registering a victory by 25 runs. Chennai have lost three matches in the season while registering a win in just one.

Dhoni has been playing for Chennai since the first season in 2008 and joined Rising Pune Supergiant for two years when the Men in Yellow were suspended for two years following the involvement of one of their officials in betting. Chennai returned to IPL in 2018 and went on to add three more titles to their overall list, taking the count to five.

“I have no idea. I am enjoying working with him still. He is still going strong. I don’t even ask these days,” Fleming said.

In 268 matches, Dhoni has scored 5319 runs at a strike rate of 138. He CSK to success in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2013. The Super Kings were runners-up in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
