Tamil Nadu star Narayan Jagadeesan scripted history on Monday, November 21, as the 26-year-old smashed his fifth century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
With the century against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing match, Jagadeesan broke many records, including those of former India captain Virat Kohli and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.
Before the match, he was tied with Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Devdutt Padikkal for the joint-most hundreds in a single season in the Vijay Hazare trophy (4). After his ton against Arunachal Pradesh, he has become the first player with most centuries in a single Vijay Hazare season.
Besides striking five centuries, all these hundreds came in consecutive innings, a new domestic record. With the feat, Jagadeesan also scripted a global milestone and surpassed Kumar Sangakkara as the player with the most consecutive centuries in List-A cricket.
Before the match, he was tied with Sangakkara, Padikkal, and Alviro Petersen.
Narayan has been a consistent performer for Tamil Nadu over the years, and with these recent innings, he would be eyeing selectors’ attention.
On the contrary, Chennai Super Kings recently released Jagadeeshan from the squad ahead of the mini-auction. The former CSK star played for the yellow army from 2018 till last season.
