Mumbai Police arrested the four accused for attacking Shaw's car with a baseball bat.

Indian player Prithvi Shaw was attacked, and his car was smashed with a baseball bat outside a hotel in Mumbai’s Santacruz after he refused to click more pictures with social media influencer Sapna Gill and her male friend Shobhit Thakur.

The Oshiwara Police has arrested Gill and booked seven others for manhandling Shaw and damaging his car.

Who is Sapna Gill?

Sapna Gill is a social media influencer with over 2,20,000 followers on Instagram.

She has been a part of titles Kashi Amarnath, Nirhua Chalal London, Mera Watan, Ravi Kishan and Dinesh Lal Yadav.

She is from Chandigarh and resides in Mumbai.

Sapna Gill is present on the video-sharing app Josh, multimedia instant messaging app Snapchat and YouTube.

What led to the brawl?

Police claimed Gill was called to the police station for questioning on Thursday. It was established that she was involved in the offence and was arrested.

However, Gill’s lawyer said that Shaw was drunk and hit her with a bat when she requested for a selfie. On the other hand, police said that Gill and Thakur were in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident.

Shaw’s friend and flatmate Ashish Yadav lodged a complaint. As per him, Thakur and Gill came to Shaw for a selfie. The cricketer happily accepted their request. But they wanted more pictures, which Prithvi turned down.

After that, the duo started misbehaving with the player. On seeing this, the hotel manager told Gill and Thakur to leave the place.

After dinner, Shaw and his friends came out of the hotel where Thakur and Gill were standing. Thakur attacked the vehicle’s windshield with the baseball bat, and Gill manhandled the cricketer.

Sensing more trouble for the right-handed batter, he was shifted to another car while his friend Yadav went to Oshiwara.

Gill also demanded INR 50,000 to settle the matter, or else she would lodge a false police complaint against Shaw and his friends,
