Babar Azam responds on his Test future

On Monday, Pakistan suffered their 2nd straight defeat to England after the Ben Stokes-led side beat the host by 26 runs to lead the three-match Test series 2-0.

The visitors continued with their aggressive brand of cricket in the 2nd Test. Batting first, they crumbled on 281. In reply, Pakistan fell short of 79 runs and put just 202 runs on the board, with Babar Azam leading the scoring chart with his 75-run innings.

In the 2nd innings, England amassed 275, setting up a target of 355 for the Babar Azam-led side.

Saud Shakeel and Imam-ul-Haq kept Pakistan alive in the match with their 50+ innings, but the fans hoped more from their star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who departed for 1 and 30.

Pakistan lost the match by 26 runs, and the fans expressed anger at the skipper by chanting ‘ZimBabar’ slogans.

After the defeat, Babar addressed the media, where one of the reporters put forward a fan’s question to the skipper and asked him whether he and Rizwan should focus on just T20Is since when they get out, the rest of the team crumbles.

A stunned Babar Azam’s befitting response left all reporters stumped. Babar said, “So are you saying we should stop playing Tests?”

The reporter clarifies his question and said he was just asking about his thoughts. Babar concluded that he is not thinking of anything like that and will continue to play all formats.
