Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that AB de Villiers had more power than Suryakumar Yadav while comparing the two after Suryakumar Yadav smashed 51 runs off 36 balls in India’s 16 runs defeat against Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the three-match series.
Speaking to Star Sports, Pathan said it is difficult to compare the two batters, insisting that de Villiers was more powerful than the 32-year-old Indian batter.
“It is difficult to compare. You can’t compare with AB de Villiers because I feel ABD had more power than SKY. He was ahead of Yadav when it is about hitting over long-off or over the covers consistently,” said Pathan.
Pathan compared Suryakumar with England captain Jos Buttler, saying SKY has a bigger range than Buttler.
“If we talk about Suryakumar and Jos Buttler, the former has more range as he can cut the ball, hit it over covers, mid-wicket,” Pathan added.
The former all-rounder said that the Men in Blue will not find a batter like Suryakumar in the middle overs.
He said that SKY should bat at the number 4 position, where he can hit the spinners in the middle-overs.
