Former India player Aakash Chopra has heaped massive praise on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opening batter Mitchell Marsh for his consistency in the Indian Premier League 2025. He said the Australian star, who was unfit to bowl this season, is the biggest value buy of the 18th season.

In their last league match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Marsh accumulated 67 runs off 37 balls as the host franchise posted 227/3 in the allotted 20 overs on Tuesday, May 27. However, his knock went in vain as the Jitesh Sharma-led team reached the target in 18.4 overs and with six wickets in hand.

“When LSG batted, a new guy Matthew Breetzke was given a chance. He is from South Africa and represents Durban Super Giants SA20. He played a couple of strokes, before Nuwan Thushara dismissed him. Mitchell Marsh was a value buy,” Chopra said.

“He is probably this season best value buy as he was bought for less than INR 3.50 crore and scored more than 600 runs. He didn’t bowl due to an injury but there is possibility of him playing as an all-rounder next year. He will remain with you for the same money. Marsh was an outstanding acquisition,” he added.

LSG bought Mitchell Marsh for INR 3.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last year. The right-handed batter accumulated 627 runs at a strike rate of 163.70 in 13 innings.
