Dhruv Jurel was India’s leading man in the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. He contributed with the bat and behind the stumps. Ben Stokes revealed that England’s wicket-keeper Ben Foakes has a man crush on the Indian keeper, Dhruv.
Playing in his second Test, Jurel came up with a match-winning performance. His 90 runs in the first innings and two solid partnership with Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep brought the home team back into the match.
He was not done with just that. The young batter returned with a more composed effort in the second innings. The pressure of the fourth innings and a chase on the turning and spinning track of Ranchi couldn’t stop him.
With India five down on 120 while chasing 192, he amassed 39 not out and helped India in crossing the line along with Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten on 52. The five-wicket win finished the five-match Test series in India’s favor with a scoreline of 3-1, with the last match to be played in Dharamshala.
Stokes heaped massive praise on Jurel but in a different style. “Both innings he has played really well. His keeping was also something to watch. I think Ben Foakes has a little man crush on him,” Ben Stokes said.
His brilliant performance was completed when the youngster was given the Player of the Match award.
