Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been named ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. The right-handed batter was in sublime form in 2021. Babar amassed 405 runs in six matches at an average of 67.50 with two centuries.
He was the second-highest run-scorer with 228 runs and was the Player of the Match in both of Pakistan’s victories in the 2-1 series triumph against the Proteas.
Pakistan suffered a series whitewash in England. The visitors lost all the three matches, but Azam accumulated 177 runs in three games.
His most memorable performance came in a losing cause against England. In the final game, the 27-year old scored 158 off just 139 balls to take Pakistan to 331/9 in 50 overs. However, England won the game by 3 wickets.
