Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers, who shocked his millions of fans across the globe by announcing retirement from international cricket in May 2018 may come out of his retirement soon.

South Africa Skipper Faf du Plessis said that South Africa are convincing the retired explosive batsman AB de Villiers to join back to the national squad ahead of T20 World Cup in Australia next year.

“Those conversations have been happening two or three months ago,” Faf du Plessis said while backing a comment made by the South African coach Mark Boucher that he would welcome back De Villiers in his team.

“The T20 World Cup is not too far away and there isn’t a long list of T20 internationals over the season. Those conversations have taken place and they will take place before the next T20 international series starts,” du Plessis added.

Even the new coach of South Africa Mark Boucher had stated that he would try to rope in the swashbuckling batter for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“When you go to a World Cup, you want your best players playing for you. If I feel he is one of your best players, why wouldn’t I want to have a conversation with him? I’ve only just got into the job, I might have conversations with quite a few players and see where they are,” said Boucher.

The much-loved swashbuckler De Villiers played international cricket for 14 years and featured in 228 ODIs, 114 Tests and 78 T20Is.

It was reported that the 35-year-old wanted to play the 50-over World Cup in England earlier this year, but the previous South Africa board had rejected his offer.
