Former Australia batter Usman Khawaja and his wife Rachel announced the birth of their third daughter on Wednesday. Born on March 13, they shared the news of Amira Maya Khawaja’s birth on social media. Reacting to the news, David Warner congratulated the couple.

“3 from 3. Amira Maya Khawaja was born last Friday . We are so grateful. Another beautiful girl. 8 more to for a full team! Alhamdulillah,” Usman Khawaja wrote on Instagram.

“Congrats mate, must be an openers thing,” Warner, who is a father of three daughters, replied.

Khawaja and Rachel got engaged in 2016 before getting married in 2018. The couple is already blessed with two daughters, Aisha Rahil Khawaja and Ayla Khawaja, who were born in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

Khawaja retired from international cricket after competing in the Ashes against England. The southpaw was born in Pakistan, but he moved to Australia. His performance in domestic cricket impressed the selectors, and he became the first Muslim to play for Australia when he was added to the playing XI for the Sydney Test in 2011.

He revealed the sacrifices made by his parents before his last Test for Australia. “We left everything to come to Australia. We had decent lives in Pakistan and were living in a big house. My mum had a leisurely life in Pakistan, but she left everything to give us a better lifestyle down under,” he told Fox Cricket.

“My mum was upset after we decided to leave Pakistan, and I never understood the reason behind her anger, but now I get it as her life changed after we came to Australia,” he added.

Khawaja was one of the best performers for Australia in Test cricket and one-day internationals and played several match-winning knocks for his nation. His wife was present during some of his iconic innings.
