Sanju Samson played a match-winning innings in a must-win game against the West Indies, taking the team to the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Despite losing wickets from the other end, Samson kept hitting boundaries and also relied on singles and doubles as the Men in Blue reached the target in 19.2 overs. The co-host secured a 5-wicket win over the two-time champions.

Samson amassed an unbeaten 97 runs off 50 balls, with the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes. He was helped by Tilak Varma, who managed 27 runs off 15 deliveries, including four boundaries and 1 maximum. The defending champions will take on England in the second semi-final on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier, the West Indies accumulated 195/4 in their allotted 20 overs, with Roston Chase (40), Jason Holder (37) and Rovman Powell (34) batting brilliantly.
