IND vs PAK
The development comes despite an agreement between the ICC, BCCI and PCB to organize all India-Pakistan matches at neutral venues.

Overview:

If Pakistan go ahead with their decision, India will be awarded two points. The India vs Pakistan contest is the most lucrative game, and if the match is not played, the ICC will suffer massive losses.

Pakistan are ready to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 but refused to compete against India. The decision was taken by Pakistan’s government after the ICC removed Bangladesh from the tournament following the BCB’s refusal to compete in India, citing security concerns.

The development comes despite an agreement between the ICC, BCCI and PCB to organise all India-Pakistan matches at neutral venues. The government of Pakistan has not given any reason for opting out of the fixture scheduled on February 15.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board backed Bangladesh during the ICC meeting. PCB and the Bangladesh Cricket Board were the two boards to support Bangladesh’s stance, while 14 other members rejected the request to relocate the matches from India to Sri Lanka.

“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026,” the government said in a statement posted on X.

“However, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India.”

The ICC has not reacted to the new controversy. According to India Today, the apex body hasn’t received any communication from the PCB. The BCCI mentioned that it is to be informed.
