The PCB wants the apex body to introduce a hybrid model for Bangladesh.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is miffed with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) head Mohsin Naqvi for supporting Bangladesh. According to the Indian Express, if Pakistan pull out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the ICC could punish them. These may lead to suspension of bilateral series, refusal to allow No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to overseas players for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and removal from the Asia Cup.
“If Pakistan say to the ICC T20 World Cup matches, the ICC will impose sanctions, including no bilateral matches, no NOC for overseas players for PSL, and no show in Asia Cup,” a source told the Indian Express.
Naqvi slammed the ICC for its double standards, saying Bangladesh was not treated fairly. He mentioned that Pakistan’s participation in the global tournament depends on the government’s approval.
“Bangladesh was not treated fairly, and you can’t decide based on what one country wants for another country. Bangladesh is a big stakeholder in international cricket,” he said.
The PCB wants the apex body to introduce a hybrid model for Bangladesh. “Bangladesh is a full member, and when Pakistan and India can play at neutral venues, the same should apply for Bangladesh. You can’t allow one country to dictate terms,” he added.
