Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the New Zealand ODI series, with Dhruv Jurel replacing the injured wicket-keeper. He suffered a side strain after getting hit on the ribs during the net session in Vadodara. Pant was in pain ahead of the opening game on Sunday, and he will take no part in the assignment. Jurel has been in good form for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the Indian Cricket Board has revealed that Jurel has joined the squad.

Pant batted for 50 minutes at the BCA B ground before he took a blow above the waist on a delivery from a throwdown specialist. He fell on his knees and was attended by the medical staff.

“A stain has been detected on the right side of the ribcage, and Rishahb Pant is out of the ODI series,” sources said.
