The global cricket community is hopeful that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both in exceptional form, will feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which is set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

As New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell prepares to lead his team in a three-match ODI series in India, starting January 11 in Vadodara, he was candid when asked about the chances of the seasoned but ageing pair featuring in the major tournament, which is still 22 months away.

“I would love to see them play in the World Cup. They are still performing at a high level, so there’s no reason for them to stop. Both are playing exceptionally well, so why not? Their records are undeniable, both individually and as part of the team. They’ve been key players in some outstanding Indian teams and have led the side with the bat. Underestimating them would be a mistake, that’s for sure,”Bracewell made his remarks on Tuesday at the Willingdon Sports Club, where NZC, in partnership with TCM Sports, organized an exclusive New Zealand Cricket Golf Day.

Following the ODI series, a five-match T20I series will commence on January 21. Bracewell shared that the Black Caps always enjoy their trips to India, captivated by the nation’s deep passion for cricket and the high caliber of the home team.

“Whenever we come to India, the crowds are always incredible, and what stands out to me is the sheer love for cricket. Even when we’re not at our best, we still receive support, which isn’t always the case in other parts of the world. It’s always a pleasure to be here, playing cricket and testing ourselves against some of the best players in the world,” he said.
