The year 2026 has begun, and by the end of this year, Team India’s legendary batter Virat Kohli could shatter three major records.

Virat Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL history with 8,661 runs. If he scores 339 runs in the upcoming IPL season, he will become the first batter to reach 9,000 IPL runs.

In international cricket, Virat Kohli is presently placed third on the all-time run-scoring list with 27,975 runs. The top spot belongs to the “God of Cricket” Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 34,357 runs. While Kohli may not break Sachin’s record this year, he needs just 42 runs in the ODI series against New Zealand to overtake Kumar Sangakkara and become the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket.

In One Day Internationals, the record for scoring 15,000+ runs is held by Sachin Tendulkar. Virat Kohli currently has 14,557 ODI runs and is just 443 runs away from this milestone. If he achieves it, Kohli will become the second batter in ODI history to score 15,000 runs.
