Smriti Mandhana

Overview:

She confirmed the wedding cancellation in a recent statement and asked for an end to speculation surrounding her personal matters.

Smriti Mandhana made her first public appearance since confirming that her wedding with composer Palash Muchhal had been called off. She was spotted at the airport in a blue sweater and black mask, marking her first outing after releasing the statement.

She has been active in training, signalling that her priorities are still rooted in cricket.

She confirmed the wedding cancellation in a recent statement and asked for an end to speculation surrounding her personal matters. “I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same,” she wrote.

She added that the constant talk about her personal matters had become too much to deal with. “Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time,” she added, calling herself a “very private person” and requesting the public to “respect the privacy of both families.”

The day after she spoke out, Mandhana’s focus shifted straight back to cricket. Smriti’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, uploaded a picture of her in pads, and facing throwdowns in what appeared to be a closed-door practice venue. The photo, paired with heart emojis, went viral, earning applause for her dedication and calmness. Mandhana is tipped to join India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka between December 21 and 30.
