Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the two biggest figures in international cricket. After stepping away from Tests and T20Is, the senior batters now feature only in the ODI setup, but their 50-over future is unclear. Despite the constant chatter surrounding them, they didn’t find a spot in India’s list of most-searched personalities for 2025. Instead, 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi topped the charts.
Rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi accumulated 252 runs in seven outings for Rajasthan Royals, who bought him for Rs 1.1 crore in IPL 2025. He notched the league’s second-quickest century with a 35-ball effort against Gujarat Titans, scoring 101 off 38 deliveries at a strike rate exceeding 205.
Priyansh Arya and Abhishek Sharma followed Suryavanshi. Priyansh impressed in his first IPL season, racking up 475 runs across 17 games and helping Punjab Kings reach the final, which ended in defeat to RCB.
Abhishek Sharma, the world’s top-ranked T20I batter, secured the third spot on the list. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s incredible IPL exploits also made waves online, placing him sixth in Google’s “Year in Search 2025” under the “people” category.
On India U19’s tour of England, Vaibhav Suryavanshi set a new record by hitting the fastest century in U19 ODI history, reaching 100 in just 52 balls and finishing with 143 off 78 deliveries, including 13 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 183.33. He outshone everyone in the ODI leg, scoring 355 runs in five innings at an average of 71.00, with one century and a fifty.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his sensational run with 144 off 42 balls for India A against UAE A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup. He reached his century in just 32 balls, faster than his IPL ton, making it the joint-third quickest T20 century for India. He topped India’s scoring charts with 239 runs from four innings at an average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 243.87.
