Gambhir has often pointed out that India are in a transition phase following the exits of stalwarts Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has spoken about India’s disappointing performance in the two-Test series against South Africa. Under Shubman Gill (first innings of the first Test) and Rishabh Pant, India suffered a 0-2 whitewash at home. The second Test in Guwahati ended in a 408-run loss, the biggest in India’s Test history, leading to criticism of coach Gautam Gambhir’s tactics.

Gambhir has often pointed out that India are in a transition phase following the exits of stalwarts Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Having retired from international cricket, Moeen Ali will lead the Gulf Giants in the fourth season of ILT20. He countered Gambhir’s claim and called the team experienced.

“I’m not sure, it’s a tricky situation because India are always expected to win at home. This isn’t just about this series, as it was the same against New Zealand. I understand Gambhir is calling it a transition, but it isn’t. These players are top-class, and some of them are the best,” Moeen told NDTV.

“India were magnificent in the UK in a drawn series. At home, however, they take their cricket very seriously and play on another level,” he added.

He pointed out that the team is struggling in Tests without the presence of spin all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.

“Ashwin is a major loss. Their other spinners are capable, but Ashwin added something special. In India, he was phenomenal, and missing him is significant,” he mentioned.

He shared that he is excited to feature for the Gulf Giants in ILT20 and looks forward to making contributions.

“Just focus on playing your best cricket, score runs, take wickets, contribute as much as possible to the team, get involved in planning, and give your all. Come in, perform well, and most importantly, give everything for the team,” he concluded.
