Virat Kohli’s sensational innings in Ranchi has propelled him past India captain Shubman Gill in the ICC ODI rankings. Rohit Sharma, who contributed 57 runs in the series opener, continues to dominate the charts, with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell in second place.
Kohli’s knock in the series opener was a masterclass, as he scored 135 from 120 balls, guiding India to a narrow 17-run win. His 136-run stand with Rohit Sharma powered India to 349 in their allotted 50 overs. With this brilliant knock, Kohli advanced to fourth place in the ICC ODI rankings on 751 points, overtaking Gill (738). He is now only 32 points behind the leader, Rohit Sharma (783).
Kohli has been outside the top spot of the ICC ODI rankings since 2021, but a string of commanding performances in the South Africa series has put him on the brink of a comeback.

Shubman Gill is sidelined for the ongoing ODI series versus South Africa due to a neck injury suffered in the Test assignment against the Proteas. In the ICC table, Mitchell holds 766 points, with Zadran of Afghanistan trailing by just two points at 764.
It was a memorable outing for Kuldeep Yadav, who rose to sixth place in the ICC ODI bowlers’ list following the Ranchi fixture. He picked up four wickets in the run-fest, including the important wickets of Matthew Breetzke and Marco Jansen at a decisive moment.
Kuldeep’s rise to 641 points pushed him ahead of Mitchell Santner into sixth spot, making him India’s highest-placed bowler in ODIs. On the T20I front, Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy continue to shine in the latest rankings.
Abhishek continues to dominate the T20I rankings with an impressive 920 points, with Phil Salt in second spot. Chakravarthy is on 780 points and maintaining a clear lead over Jacob Duffy.
