Umran Malik, once known as the Jammu Tawi Express for consistently bowling at speeds of 150 km/h, has now faded into obscurity — and very few people know where he is today.

After an impressive performance in the IPL, Umran made his debut for India in 2022. He played 10 ODIs and took 13 wickets, and in T20 Internationals, he played 8 matches and picked up 11 wickets. However, during this period, his economy rate crossed 10 runs per over, which became a concern.

Since 2023, he hasn’t played a single match for India. The major reason behind his downfall was the lack of variations apart from pace, which made him expensive and easy for batters to target. Along with that, injuries also hit his career badly. Due to these injuries, he couldn’t play even a single match for KKR in IPL 2025.

But now, Umran has announced his comeback.

He said:

“I am the only bowler in India who can consistently bowl at 150 km/h. To make a comeback to Team India, I am now working on slower deliveries and yorkers as well.”

Umran also added that bowlers who bowl at 150 km/h are not just strike bowlers — they are attacking bowlers.

“Such bowlers will concede runs, but they will also give you wickets. A bowler like this is like a king.”

In IPL 2024, Umran bowled at a speed of 156.7 km/h, but since then, he has been struggling with injuries and illness. Despite everything, he says he never doubted his ability or his future.
