Overview:
Chennai Super Kings sealed the victory by 22 runs, with Deepak Chahar taking one wicket and conceding 40 runs from his four overs.
Former CSK seamer Deepak Chahar narrated an incident of MS Dhoni losing his cool at him during a recent appearance on Bigg Boss. Chahar visited the Bigg Boss 19 house for the family week to meet his sister, Malti Chahar, who is part of the show.
He spoke about a moment from the 2019 IPL fixture, where CSK faced Punjab Kings at home. After scoring 160/3, the Men in Yellow saw PBKS needing 39 runs off 12 balls in the end.
Deepak Chahar began the 19th over with a shaky start, delivering a no-ball and giving away five runs immediately. Things didn’t improve as he bowled another no-ball to a well-set Sarfaraz Khan. Chahar later recalled how MS Dhoni lost his cool.
“I was bowling in the death overs for the first time in that game, and Sarfaraz Khan was at the crease. We had a strategy for him since he often plays the scoop shot. The idea was to bowl a slower delivery, which would be harder for him to hit. I tried a leg-cutter outside leg stump, but my footing went wrong, and it ended up as a full-toss. The situation was tense, and unfortunately, it went for a boundary. I knew the plan was correct, but my execution failed. I bowled the same delivery again, and it turned into another no-ball,” he said.

“I felt like my chances in death bowling were over. Then Mahi bhai came up to me, clearly frustrated, and said, Tu bewakoof nahi, main bewakoof hoon’ ‘You’re not stupid, I’m stupid.’ I thought I wouldn’t get another chance to bowl and just kept my head down, listening. But in the next five or six deliveries, I conceded only five runs and even picked up a wicket, and we ended up winning the match,” he recalled.
