Smriti Mandhana is not thinking about India’s win over Australia in the semi-final as she wants to focus on the title clash match against South Africa. The star batter believes in the present, and it is her dream to lift the World Cup Trophy on November 2 in Navi Mumbai.
Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 127 runs as India registered the highest-ever chase in the history of women’s cricket, going past Australia’s total of 338.
“The World Cup is special, and playing at home makes it something else. I visited the stadium a couple of months ago for an ad shoot and was thinking about making it to the final. The dream of winning the trophy is within reach, and we want to leave everything else behind,” she said on Star Sports.
“We will have to give our 100 percent in the final. We have prepared hard. I know a lot of dreams are connected with the final, and we try to make these dreams come true,” she added.
In 8 matches, Smriti has scored 389 runs at an average of 55.87. “I wanted to do whatever the team needed from me in this World Cup. In the past, I was interested in personal targets, but things didn’t go as planned. This time, my focus was on execution and not numbers,” she mentioned.
“Personally, the only statistic I want to see is that India has won the 2025 World Cup. You can’t overthink in cricket. It is important to stay calm.”
