Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been punished by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India in Colombo. She was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
It is related to the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international contest. The incident happened in the 40th over of the run chase when Sidra was livid with herself after her dismissal. She hit her bat onto the pitch, and her action was found against the spirit of the game.
Sidra was warned, and one demerit point was added to her record. According to the rules and regulations, Level 1 breaches carry penalties ranging from a warning to a fine of 50 percent of the match fee, along with one of two demerit points.
The on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag, Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton levelled a charge against the batter. The sanction was announced by match referee Shandre Fritz.
She scored 81 runs off 106 balls, but the Women in Green lost the match by 88 runs. Pakistan have lost two consecutive matches in the ongoing global tournament. Their first defeat came against Bangladesh. They will now face Australia on October 8.
