BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the final of the Duleep Trophy 2025 will be telecast live. His statement came after fans expressed frustration when the quarterfinals, played at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, went without television or online coverage. The tournament, which opened the domestic cricket season on 28 August, is set to finish with the title clash between 11 and 14 September.

Speaking to The Times of India, Saikia explained that the BCCI has an agreement with its official broadcaster to showcase 100 days of domestic cricket. He underlined that domestic tournaments remain a priority for the board and highlighted the presence of several top Indian cricketers as proof of its importance.

“The Duleep Trophy final will be shown live. Our agreement with the broadcaster guarantees coverage of 100 days of domestic cricket, ensuring every major domestic competition is televised. The BCCI places great value on domestic cricket, and that is why nearly all Indian players take part in these matches,” stated the BCCI secretary.

Reason behind the missing coverage of the quarterfinals

An official familiar with the matter told The Times of India that the broadcast contract restricts coverage to a set number of match days. Because of this limit, no games apart from the Duleep Trophy final will be aired or streamed this year.

“The BCCI’s deal with its broadcaster allows a limited number of days for televising Indian cricket, and these must be allocated wisely. As a result, only the Duleep Trophy final will be shown live on TV and online. However, from the fans’ point of view, this situation really needs to get better,” a source told.
