Team India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel slammed Mohammed Siraj and Anshul Kamboj for not helping Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test against England in Manchester. India are likely to face a heavy defeat after England crossed the 500-run mark, taking their lead to 186. At Stumps on Day 3, England were 544/7 with Ben Stokes (77) and Liam Dawson (21) in the middle.

No Indian bowlers were able to put the English batters under pressure, with Joe Root amassing his 38th Test ton and also becoming the second-highest run-getter in Test cricket, surpassing former Australia captain Ricky Ponting.

Morne Morkel believes that Bumrah has been unable to take wickets with the new ball because other bowlers haven’t been up to the mark.

“We need to build partnerships to be successful. The other guys needs to help Jasprit Bumrah but it is not happening. The other bowlers are a bit greedy as they are striving too much and that’s why we are leaking runs and the pressure is released,” he said.

“You can’t say anything about Bumrah as he is the number one bowler in the world. You need help from the other end,” he added.

Morkel highlighted India’s poor execution with the ball. “Our execution has let ou down. We were too greedy and didn’t stick to the plan.”

Morkel defended Shubman Gill’s decision to give the new ball to Anshul Kamboj instead of Mohammed Siraj.

“We needed a experience bowler as first change so the call to start with Kamboj was taken,” he concluded.
