Overview:

Despite having played against cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli, Cook's list did not feature any of them.

Alastair Cook, the former England cricket captain, recently shared his choices for the four greatest cricketers he has either played alongside or competed against. His selections notably did not include any Indian cricketers. Cook chose Brian Lara, James Anderson, Jacques Kallis, and Ben Stokes.

When asked to nominate a batter, a bowler, an all-rounder, and a wildcard, Cook provided his answers on the Stick to Cricket X platform.

“Choosing the best batter I’ve ever seen is a difficult decision, but it has to be Brian Lara. It’s a tough call between him and Ponting, but Lara stands out. I only faced him once, and it wasn’t in a Test match, but I’ve never come across a player with such genius. As for the best bowler, I have to pick James Anderson, one of my closest friends. His skills and the ability to perform at the highest level for so long make him my choice. He’s definitely my bowler,” he said.

“When it comes to the best all-rounder, it’s actually quite an easy choice. I say it’s easy, but Ben Stokes has to be right up there for his ability to change the game. That said, Jacques Kallis was incredible not only for the sheer number of runs he scored, but also for his impressive tally of over 200 Test wickets and his brilliant catching in the slips. He’s certainly the best all-rounder I’ve seen. As for the wild-card entry, I’ll go with Ben Stokes again a game-changer who has played some of the most remarkable innings I’ve ever witnessed under pressure to win crucial matches,” he added.
