Former India cricketer Yograj Singh, the father of Yuvraj Singh, has slammed Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer for his shot selection in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Iyer faced two balls, scored just 1 run in the summit clash, and was caught by wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma on Romario Shepherd’s delivery.

His dismissal allowed RCB to put pressure on PBKS. Yograj particularly highlighted Iyer’s mistake and called his shot a criminal offence.

“The shot he played in the final was a criminal offence in my eyes. It comes under Section 302. Ashok Mankad told me that a player can be banned for two matches. Shreyas Iyer’s act was unacceptable. You can’t even accept an apology for that stroke,” Yograj Singh told ANI. Iyer had scored an unbeaten 87 runs off 41 balls in the Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the same venue, but his departure in the most crucial game impacted Punjab.

Shashank Singh (61* off 30) was the only batter who batted well for the runners-up. Punjab fell short by 6 runs, with Krunal Pandya (2/17) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/38) bowling well for the Challengers. Krunal was adjudged the Player of the Match.

RCB posted 190/9 in 20 overs, with Virat Kohli scoring 43 runs off 35 balls. Jitesh Sharma amassed 24 runs off 10 balls. Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson (3/48) were magnificent with the ball for the Kings.
