Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed’s heartfelt social media post for Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has captured significant attention since he shared it on Saturday, March 1.
The post followed their memorable Champions Trophy encounter in Dubai, where Abrar was impressed by Kohli’s humility and described him as a true inspiration. He posted a photo of their viral moment from the India-Pakistan clash on February 23. Earlier in the game, Abrar received criticism for his animated send-off after dismissing Shubman Gill.
“Bowling to my childhood hero Virat Kohli. Grateful for his appreciation; his greatness as a cricketer is only matched by his humility as a person,” Abrar wrote.
However, at the end of Abrar’s spell, Kohli showed true sportsmanship by walking up to the spinner, shaking his hand, and acknowledging his performance.
Meanwhile, Kohli is set to achieve a remarkable milestone on Sunday, becoming the seventh Indian cricketer to play 300 ODIs. He will join Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh.
The Indian team had an intense training session in Dubai, with Kohli spending considerable time facing spinners. Bowling coach Morne Morkel also rejoined the squad after attending to a personal emergency.
During the session, Kohli batted against Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja.
Star pacer Mohammed Shami bowled at full pace, swinging the ball both ways and striking Kohli’s pads twice. Young bowlers Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh also pushed themselves hard during the session, aiming to make an impact.
