Indian cricketer KC Cariappa, who has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, is seeking help from police after his ex-girlfriend threatened to finish his career.

According to him, the woman has also warned his family members of consequences. He lodged a complaint a year after his former lover had filed a case against him.

Cariappa, who resides in Ramaiah Layout in Nagasandra and hails from Kodagu, told police that he was in love with a woman but couldn’t continue his relationship because she was a drug addict. She was also an alcoholic.

He tried his best to convince the woman to quit drinking but she refused. She threatened to commit suicide because of him. “Based on the complaint filed by Cariappa, we are investigating the matter,” a senior police officer said.

Meanwhile, the woman had filed a complaint in 2022, accusing the player of getting her pregnant and giving her abortion tablets. The woman told TOI that Cariappa had promised to marry her.

The woman in question is unaware of Cariappa’s complaint and said that she would fight back. He became famous for his variations.

He made his IPL debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015 against RCB and dismissed AB de Villiers. He played one match for the two-time champions before was bought by Punjab Kings in 2016.

Cariappa returned to KKR to replace injured Shivam Mavi in 2019. KKR released him ahead of 2020 auction. In 2021, Cariappa was added to the squad by Rajasthan Royals. He made his List A debut for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021.
