India registered a two-wicket win over Australia in the first T20I on Thursday. Josh Inglis’ 110 took Australia to a huge total of 208/3 in 20 overs.
In reply, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan hit half-centuries as India completed the chase in 20th over. However, both were dismissed and it was left to Rinku Singh to take India home as the Men in Blue needed seven runs off six balls.
India lost Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh in the last over bowled by Sean Abbott. With India needing one off last ball of the innings, Rinku Singh slammed a huge six to take India to victory.
However, the six was not counted but India still managed to win. The last delivery was called a no-ball because the foot of the bowler had crossed the line. It was a no-ball, and India crossed the Australian total and won due to extra run. Hence, the six was not counted. India finished on 209/8 in 19.5 overs.
This is India’s highest T20I run-chase, surpassing 208 against West Indies in 2019. India is 1-0 up in the series.
