Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting had claimed that he was offered a post of Team India’s head coach but the veteran said no to it. However, Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, has busted his remark, saying that the apex body of the Indian cricket didn’t contact any Aussie player for the job.

According to Ponting, he is currently working with Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League and other franchises and there is no way he can leave them.

Apart from him, Justin Langer was also in fray, but he also opted out of the race, saying that KL Rahul informed him about the politics in Team India.

Jay Shah has refuted all the statements made by Aussie stars.

“Nither 1 nor the BCCI have approached the former Australia cricketers with a coaching offer.

“Finding the right coach for our national team is a meticulous and thorough process. We are focused on identifying individuals who possess a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have risen through the ranks.

“It’s crucial that our coach has in-depth knowledge of our domestic cricket framework to truly elevate Team India to the next level,” Jay Shah said in his statement.

Stephen Fleming, who is the head coach of Chennai Super Kings, is among the top contenders to replace Rahul Dravid after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, is also a good choice.
