Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard will be released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the next season of the Indian Premier League.
In 11 games in IPL 2022, he scored 144 runs at a poor average of 14.40. Mumbai were the first team to be eliminated from the 15th season. Pollard was dropped from playing XI in the last few games as the management gave chances to the young players.
The five-time champions finished last in the points table. “I think we have seen the last of the West Indies all-rounder. ₹6 crores will be released if they don’t retain him. I think they can let go Murugan Ashwin (₹1.6 crores) and Tymal Mills (₹1.5 crores),” said Chopra.
Aakash lauded Tilak Varma, who was the find of the season. “He is a brilliant player who made his performance count while batting in the top order. He is a future investment,” he added.
