Mohammed Shami is enjoying a great run with the Indian cricket at the moment. In last one year, he has 27 scalps to his name in seven Test matches at an average of 22.66. The right-arm pacer has also excelled in the 50-overs format. In 2019, he has 37 wickets in 19 ODIs with an economy of 5.23.

Former Indian speedster, Zaheer Khan has showered praise on the Amroha-born pacer. Zak is of the opinion that Shami’s “fitness” and “hunger” is helping him perform at his best in international cricket.

“With Shami we all knew about the wrist position and the upright seam. The only iffy thing was fitness but now he has worked on that,” Zaheer told Mumbai Mirror. “He has been phenomenal in terms of getting his fitness level up to the standard that is required.

Zaheer went on to add that, “This has been a huge plus for him. Ability was always there. Just that some injuries had kept him out for a year. He has come back strongly. A lot of credit has to go to him for how he is managing himself and the hunger that he has shown to come back and play at the top level.”
