Pakistan are going strong in the ODI series against South Africa. The two teams are tied at 2-2 with one match to go. However, green brigade from Asia have been found wanting in the past. The leadership qualities of Sarfraz Ahmed also came under the scanner. Despite some torrid time in the past before the ongoing series in South Africa, Wasim Akram is backing current skipper to come good in the World Cup, which is scheduled to start on May 30 in England and Wales. “We no longer have the time to change the captain. Sarfraz is a passionate captain and also there is no alternative choice available,” Akram was quoted as saying in The Express Tribune.
Sarfraz is currently serving a four-match ban following is racist comments at opposition all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second ODI of the series against South Africa. Former Pakistan skipper feels calling Sarfraz back from the mid-tour was not the right decision.
“Sarfraz made a mistake but he admitted it and hopefully won’t repeat such a thing in the future. Calling him back from the tour is not a good decision,” he added.
