The Indian women’s cricket team lost the opening ODI of the series by one run against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Harmanpreet Kaur, who failed with the bat, made her presence felt when she took an absolute blinder to dismiss West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor. She went after Ekta Bisht to complete her hundred with a six but the Indian star cricketer timed her jump perfectly to grab the ball near the boundary rope.

The hosts scored 225 for seven from the allotted overs and despite Priya Punia’s 75 runs, India were bowled out for 224, losing the game by one run. The Women in Blue were placed at 170 for two in 39.2 overs and looked set for an impressive win but Anisa Mohammed’s five wickets ended India’s resistance.

India needed nine runs off the last over with two wickets in hand, but Anisa dismissed both the batswomen to give her team a much needed win.
