Continuing from where they left in the first ODI of the series, Team India once again dominated New Zealand beating them by 90 runs in the second match. Chasing 325 runs, the Kiwis never looked in chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 2 wickets each.  The remaining two scalps went to Mohammed Shami and Kedar Jadhav.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave Men in Blue a rocking start with former scoring 87 while the latter accumulated 66.

Virat Kohli (43), Ambati Rayudu (47), MS Dhoni (48 not out) and Kedar Jadhav (22 not out) also made useful contributions.

Virat was pleased with his team’s performance.

“Quite clinical. We were really balanced with the bat. 325 was par. Not something you feel comfortable considering NZ’s batting. But it was good to put up a balanced performance. I made a conscience effort after the drinks break that I’m going to go hard between 34-40 overs so we can get 340-350. Once I got out, the new batsman had to take time. These are the things we need to look into with the World Cup nearby. We would like to score those 15-20 runs extra but at the same time. Our bowlers are not content to go wicketless for 40 runs, they’d rather go for 60 and take three wicket. That mindset is crucial for us,” he said.

He also revealed about his plans for tomorrow. The Indian skipper will go for sightseeing with his lady love, Anushka Sharma.
