Will Rishabh Pant come out as a better player after the complete end of lockdown? Despite MS Dhoni’s sabbatical from international cricket, the young wicketkeeper-batsman has failed to secure his place in the Indian team. He has been criticized for his reckless batting and flop show behind the stumps.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes the current extended break due to coronavirus pandemic will help Rishabh Pant in regaining his confidence. According to Irfan, the 22-year-old batsman is a ‘very talented’ player but he was facing a lot of pressure from fans and other cricketers. This break will benefit him to improve his game.

In his latest interview on Star Sports’ Cricket Connected show, Pathan said, “Rishabh Pant is very talented. There was a lot of focus on him and so the focus getting removed from him, it will do a world of good to him and many other cricketers.”

“Lot of people will benefit from this break. I feel there will be a lot of cricketers whose career was at stake but would get revived now because they would have recovered mentally as well as physically.”

Sometimes you are getting too much backing – Irfan Pathan

Despite being backed by the team management and current India captain Virat Kohli, Pant has failed to meet the expectations of fans. The string of failures with bat and gloves eventually led to his ouster from the team and KL Rahul emerged as the number one choice of Team India.

“Sometimes you are getting too much backing. Virat Kohli is backing Pant in the public eye as well, but I think when you get a little kick on your back, that’s when if you have a talent you are going to go big,” Irfan Pathan added.
