The national selectors recently announced India’s 15-member World Cup squad and leaving two surprises, the squad met everyone’s expectations. Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar were preferred over Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is confident of Vijay’s success in the mega event and is happy to have him in the team.

The MSK Prasad-led selection committee opted to go with a well settled squad. Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Vijay Shankar are the three all-rounders in the team and chief selector stated that Shankar was drafted in the side because he is a three-dimensional player, who can bat, bowl and field well.

“Vijay Shankar brings in a lot to the team and hence, I am delighted to have him,” Kohli was quoted as saying by India Today.
