On Tuesday in Johannesburg, the SA20 2026 auction saw franchises spending big, with Aiden Markram (7.3 cr) and Dewald Brevis (8.3 cr) emerging as the most expensive buys. Amidst the million-dollar deals, an Indian player also made headlines — Shubham Ranjane.

The right-handed all-rounder Shubham Ranjane was picked up by the Johannesburg Super Kings at his base price, which amounts to around ₹10 lakh in Indian currency.

Shubham’s domestic cricket journey has been impressive. Born in Pune, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai in 2016. He later represented Goa during the 2021–22 season. His talent also earned him a chance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when Rajasthan Royals signed him in 2019.

In recent years, Shubham has also been active in overseas leagues. Since 2023, he has been playing in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA for Texas Super Kings. Now, the same franchise will back him in SA20 as well, where Shubham is set to showcase his skills on South African soil.
