Royal Challengers Bangalore young opener, Devdutt Padikkal has left everyone in awe of him with his consistent performance in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League. The 20-year-old left-handed batsman was snapped by the Bangalore-based franchise on the back of his brilliant performances in the domestic tournaments last year. RCB’s decision of picking Devdutt bore fruit as the youngster has smashed three fifties in just four games in IPL 2020.

Padikkal’s impressive batting display in the UAE earned him praise from all parts of the world. Even the former Australian cricketer, Brad Hogg has lauded him for his skills. He feels that Padikkal is capable of representing the Indian team at the international level.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Hogg said, “It’s his first IPL and he has already scored three fifties out of four innings. In the second game, he really got tested by Cottrell with that short ball into the ribs. But I have seen him play a couple of pull shots against quality quick bowling after that. This kid has got the goods to play for India.”

Impressed with Padikkal’s quick learning skills, the 49-year-old veteran also stated that Devdutt played exceptionally well against Mumbai Indians stalwart Jasprit Bumrah, who is one of the premium T20 bowlers at the moment.

“He pulled Bumrah with the short ball to the body which showed that he is a quick thinker. He learns quickly. And that is probably the best batting performance that I have ever seen in the IPL,” Hogg added.
