The governing body of international cricket has announced schedule for the T20 World Cup in Australia and for the first time in many years, arch rivals India and Pakistan are not part of the same group.
Men in Green are currently ranked number one in the ICC rankings while Virat Kohli-led India are ranked second.
According to rules and regulations, the two top teams couldn’t be kept in the same group and therefore there won’t be any mega clash in early stages of the event.
They haven’t played bilateral series since five years. The last time these two faced each other was when Pakistan toured India in 2012-13 for an ODI and T20I series. The two teams play each other in tournaments organized by the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council.
Political tension have limited their chances of competing in all formats of the game.
