Shubman Gill was expected to get picked in India’s limited-overs squad for the tour of West Indies. But, he wasn’t named in India’s squad that was announced on Sunday, which was highly surprising especially after his golden run for India A in Windies. Chief selector, MSK Prasad said that the youngster will have to wait for his chances.

“He was given an opportunity when KL Rahul was out against New Zealand, he will have to wait for his turn,” MSK Prasad was quoted as saying by India today. Gill racked up three fifties in four games against Windies A and was even adjudged Player-of-the-tournament.

The teen sensation averages 104.46 in Youth ODIs. He rose to prominence when he was named the Player-of-the-Tournament in the 2018 U19 World Cup, which India won. The right-hander has made 1,942 runs in List-A cricket at an average of 47.36. He averages 77.78 after playing nine First-Class games. So, far he has played two ODIs for India as well.
