The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly has showered praise on young batsman Devdutt Padikkal, who recently made a sensational IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Stadium.
Padikkal’s heroics with the bat helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to beat David Warner-led SRH by 10 runs. The 20-year-old left-hander was snapped by the Bangalore-based franchise on the back of his brilliant performances in last year’s domestic tournaments.
Opening the innings for RCB alongside Australia white-ball captain Aaron Finch in their pulsating campaign opener, Padikkal smashed 56 runs off 42 deliveries. With his strong batting display, Padikkal gave a head-start to the Virat Kohli-led team against SRH. His innings was laced with eight boundaries.
