The Pakistani team lost a Test series for the first time in 10 years in England as they could not muster a win in the last game, which was marred by persistent rain. A draw rather seemed like a positive outcome for the green brigade given that they were really languishing after having conceded 583 runs to the hosts and in return getting bundled out for just 273 in their first essay.

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja considered this as a repetitive fault in the men in green’s approach towards Test cricket on away tours. He also questioned the senior players for their attitude and the role they have played in the team.

“There are problems in the Pakistan camp, not just of late but from a while now as far as away tours are concerned. This year we lost to South Africa, Australia and now England. We compete in the first Test but progressively our form tapers off as the series progresses,” Raja said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“What is the role of senior players? Will they keep on failing and will we still keep playing them? Why are we hesitant to bring in new players, especially batsmen?’ he further asked.

Anderson respected Test Cricket – Ramiz Raja

The Pakistani great then went on to praise the English bowler James Anderson who became the first fast bowler in the history of Test cricket to get to 600 wickets.

“James Anderson got his 600th wicket by dismissing Azhar Ali. His performance is like someone who has successfully climbed Mount Everest,” Raja, who played 57 Tests and scored 2833 runs for Pakistan said.

“James Anderson gave respect to Test cricket and thus he got respect in return. He wanted to become a great Test player and so he became.”
