Discarded Indian opener KL Rahul is going through a turbulent phase in his career at the moment. Firstly, he endured a dry run with the bat and then the Koffee with Karan controversy further added salt to injury. All-rounder Hardik Pandya got selected in the senior team after both the players were allowed to play again but that wasn’t quite the case with Rahul. The 26 years old is sweating it out for India A under the able guidance of Indian legend Rahul Dravid.

KL Rahul’s poor form has continued even for India A. Things are getting murkier for him with time. It is never easy to make it to the Indian team but earning back your place again is even tougher. But the Karnataka batsman has found support in Rahul Dravid.

India A head coach Rahul Dravid said, “He (KL) got a good first ball today as it seamed. I have no doubt that he has got quality and ability. He is playing four-day games as well and he has shown that he can succeed at the international level in all three formats.”

“He has got a hundred in T20, ODI and Test and not many batsmen have that record. He is a proven performer and I am not too worried about his form,” the India A coach added.

Dravid also reflected on the relevance of India A for upcoming as well as senior players. “India A is always a combination of two things. There’s always some players coming in from India (senior national team) and there are some other senior boys selectors want to see. They are looking at players from a short-term perspective and there are other boys they are looking at medium and long term perspective. India A is a balance of both,” said Dravid.
