Former India head coach and one of the closest people to Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri, was a satisfied man after the 33-year-old ended his century drought.

According to former India head coach Ravi Shastri, the captain and the coach should have a say in team selection. Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli stitched an impressive partnership and guided team to success in Australia and England.

However, the team fell short in the ICC tournaments. After Shastri’s tenure with the national team ended following the ICC T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid was given the command.

“I think it is extremely important for the coach and the captain to have a say in the team selection, officially going forward. It is very important especially if the coach is experienced enough. I was, Rahul (Dravid is), and the captain should also have a say,” Ravi Shastri said on a Star Sports show.

Ravi had earlier revealed that he was not satisfied with the inclusion of three wicket-keepers in the World Cup squad. “I wasn’t okay with three wicketkeepers being picked for the World Cup. Either Ambati (Rayudu) or Shreyas (Iyer) could’ve come in. What was the logic in having MS Dhoni, Rishabh (Pant), and Dinesh (Karthik) altogether? But I never interfered with the selectors’ work, except when I was asked for feedback or as part of a general discussion.”
