Renowned former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has expressed his belief that Virat Kohli’s aggressive demeanor plays a pivotal role in bringing out the best in the star batter. It directly influences his on-field performances believes Murali.
Despite widespread discussions surrounding Kohli’s assertive celebrations, with some questioning their intensity, Muralitharan contends that the cricketer’s fervor for the game is a crucial aspect of his success. While Kohli has exhibited a more subdued demeanor in recent times, the legendary spinner urges the Indian player to persist in expressing his passion openly.
Speaking on the ‘TRS’ podcast, Muttiah Muralitharan shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli.
“You will notice that he will celebrate the wicket more than the bowler, even if he isn’t the captain. That displays his love for the game. Therefore, if he loses that, he is done. Many will continue to describe him as aggressive. Be yourself. He is a gentleman on the outside, quiet, calm, and a good guy,” he said.
“That is the passion. He shouldn’t change who he is since that’s what makes him Kohli. Never change your mindset, I constantly advice. His performance will suffer if he doesn’t continue what he’s doing in the middle,” Muralitharan concluded.
